Which bathroom wall niche should you choose?

Five recessed niche sizes, a single depth, up to eight finishes depending on the model: here is how to choose the wall niche that suits your shower, your bath or any wall in the house.

First, a 4 in partition

Every Zvelt wall niche is 4 in deep. Before choosing a size, make sure the partition offers that space between the studs. The installation guide in 6 steps gives the rough opening to cut for each model.

Ally 12 × 12 in: the easiest to place

The Ally 12 × 12 in bathroom wall niche is easy to install anywhere. Its size allows more flexibility in positioning when there are obstacles behind the wall, and it is ideal for tight spaces. Some users fit more than one to increase storage and shape the space as they wish.

Andy 12 × 24 in: the horizontal one

The Andy 12 × 24 in horizontal wall niche offers more space for a fraction of the price and an attractive look. It is installed horizontally, in the bathroom or above bedside tables in the bedroom, to add storage or to highlight a cherished object. Installation is slightly more complex: the studs, normally spaced 12 to 18 in apart, have to be adjusted.

Acia 24 × 12 in: the vertical one with a shelf

The vertical Acia 24 × 12 in maximizes storage with a shelf designed to drain water and residue completely. The lower compartment holds large bottles. This model fits very well between the studs. Very practical, it is also used in kitchens for spices and oils.

Ana 36 × 8 in: the three-compartment column

The Ana 36 × 8 in wall niche is the vertical model with the most storage, with two shelves designed to drain water and three compartments. The lower compartment holds large bottles. Its narrow shape makes it easy to install between the studs. It is the ideal size to give a narrow wall a whole new purpose.

Alba 12 × 48 in: the large format

The Alba 12 × 48 in large-format wall niche is the largest model offered. Installation takes more work because of its size and requires a support frame to receive the niche. Make sure the wall surface is perfectly flat: a curved wall will not give a satisfactory result. Available in every finish, this large niche is usually installed above the bath, but it is also popular in walk-in showers.

Choosing the finish of your wall niche

Colour, brushed stainless steel or mirror? The colour finish needs the least maintenance. A brushed stainless steel or mirror niche should be rinsed and wiped after each use to keep its look over time; despite that more delicate care, the industrial, modern look of steel appeals to many users.

Prefer colour? A contrasting effect, or a wall niche that blends into the wall colour: there is no wrong choice, it is a matter of taste and style. One advantage of a wall niche over a site-built tiled niche: it is easier to replace it with another finish if you change your decor.
