Andy 12″ × 24″ Bathroom Wall Niche
What you see first
Once the Andy is in the wall, the line is what you notice. It runs the long way, aligned with the tile courses rather than cutting across them, and the bay behind it stays open for the full 24 in, no shelf, nothing divided. It is the one people pick when the niche doubles as a display ledge, one object in the middle and a bottle at each end on one unbroken base. Outside the bathroom it often turns up over a nightstand, adding storage without giving up any floor space.
Two sets of numbers
- Overall, flange included: 25 1/4 in wide × 13 1/4 in high × 4 in deep
- Recessed body, the part that vanishes into the wall: 24 in wide × 12 in high
- Single bay, no shelf
- Flange: 5/8 in overlap onto the tile, 3/16 in projection
The two lines do different work. Overall size is what shows once the flange lands on the tile; the body is the part that disappears into the wall. There is 1 1/4 in between them. You work to the body size, never to the overall size. The rough opening to cut is given below.
Cutting the opening
- Rough opening: 24 1/4 in wide × 12 1/8 in high
- Minimum wall depth: 4 in
An opening this wide is planned with the framing, before the tile goes up, not after. Zvelt’s manual then adds one optional step it recommends, lining the sides of the opening with drywall and bonding the waterproofing membrane inside the box. The flange goes on last, covering the tile cut by 5/8 in all around, so the finished wall shows a single straight edge from one side of the box to the other. Over a 24 in run, that unbroken line is exactly what a niche built out of tile on site struggles to hold.
Finishes, and what Zvelt covers
All eight Zvelt finishes are available on the Andy. Matte black, brushed stainless steel, matte white, glossy white, matte grey, mirror, black PVD, gold PVD. The manufacturer’s warranty runs against manufacturing defects for 3 years on PVD and for 2 years on baked powder-coated finishes and on brushed stainless steel. Full terms ship with the niche, inside the installation manual. Zvelt is a Quebec manufacturer, based in Boucherville.

Zvelt recommends cleaning your doghouses with a damp cloth and mild soap. The use of brushes, abrasive cleaners, scrapers, steel wool pads, and metal spray cans can damage the doghouse's surface and should be avoided.
IMPORTANT : Remove soap residue and other cosmetic products between uses and wipe off excess water. Prolonged contact with these products may leave an imprint on the surface. The use of microfiber cloths is recommended. To prevent oxidation, do not allow contact with steel accessories. Use conventional non-abrasive cleaning products. Avoid contact with nail polish remover, hair removal cream, or paint thinner.
Zvelt Product Warranty:
