Kitchen walls too
The Acia does not stay in the bathroom. It also ends up in kitchens, recessed into the wall, holding oils and spices. In a shower it works the same way. It mounts vertically, running with the studs, and the 12 in body drops into a standard stud bay, so framing rarely has to be reworked. The built-in shelf splits the opening in two, and the lower bay clears 13 1/2 in, enough for the tall pump bottles that tip over anywhere else. Soap and a razor go up top.
Measurements
- Overall size, flange included: 13 1/4 in wide × 25 1/4 in high × 4 in deep
- Recessed body, the part that disappears into the wall: 12 in wide × 24 in high
- Upper bay clear height: 10 1/2 in
- Lower bay clear height: 13 1/2 in
- Sloped built-in shelf with a draining system
- Flange: 5/8 in overlap onto the tile, 3/16 in projection
Those two sets of numbers answer different questions. Overall size tells you what stays visible once the tile is done, while the body size is what has to be opened up in the wall.
Cutting the opening
- Rough opening: 12 1/4 in wide × 24 1/8 in high
- Minimum wall depth: 4 in
The Zvelt manual recommends one more step without requiring it. Line the sides of the opening with drywall, then bond the waterproofing membrane to the inside of the box. From there the flange covers the tile cut by 5/8 in, all the way around. The niche shows up finished, in one piece, so the tile setter has no mortar box to build, no back to tile and no inside corners to grout.
Finish options
The Acia comes in seven finishes. Matte black, brushed stainless steel, matte white, glossy white, matte grey, black PVD and gold PVD. The mirror finish is not offered on this model.
Warranty terms
Zvelt warrants the niche against manufacturing defects. PVD finishes get 3 years, baked powder-coated finishes and brushed stainless steel get 2. Full terms come with the niche, inside the installation manual. Zvelt products are designed in Quebec and manufactured in China.

Zvelt recommends cleaning your doghouses with a damp cloth and mild soap. The use of brushes, abrasive cleaners, scrapers, steel wool pads, and metal spray cans can damage the doghouse's surface and should be avoided.
IMPORTANT : Remove soap residue and other cosmetic products between uses and wipe off excess water. Prolonged contact with these products may leave an imprint on the surface. The use of microfiber cloths is recommended. To prevent oxidation, do not allow contact with steel accessories. Use conventional non-abrasive cleaning products. Avoid contact with nail polish remover, hair removal cream, or paint thinner.
